Maintenance Director (Skilled Nursing Facility)

About the role

The role is for a full-time Maintenance Director who reports to the administrator. The candidate will oversee the maintenance department and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, organizes, implements, evaluates, and directs the Maintenance Department, its programs and activities.
  • Ensures the facility remains in compliance with all federal, state and local regulations for Life Safety Code compliance.
  • Reviews the department’s policies, procedure manuals, job descriptions, etc., at least annually for revisions and makes recommendations to the Assistant Administrator/Administrator.
  • Prepares operating and staffing budgets for maintenance and monitors monthly.
  • Safeguards maintenance staff by ensuring they are properly trained on safety policies and procedures and monitors compliance.
  • Maintains a supportive team environment, contributes to teamwork, and demonstrates leadership skills.
  • Manages the department independently when necessary, making decisions based on available information.
  • Communicates effectively with various stakeholders including residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
  • Supports the facility’s safety protocols and responds to emergencies, including evacuations of residents.
  • Performs physical tasks such as moving, lifting, and carrying materials as required.
  • Learns and interprets blueprints and building codes.
  • Works in all areas of the facility, including assisting with resident evacuations during emergencies.

Requirements

  • Previous experience as a Maintenance Director in a Skilled Nursing Facility or Long-Term Care Facility is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays when necessary.
  • Must be able to assist in evacuating residents during emergencies.
  • Must be able to lift, move, push or pull a minimum of 35 pounds to a minimum of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.

Skills

  • Ability to make independent decisions when necessary.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and building codes.
  • Ability to observe, listen, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to lift, move, push or pull a minimum of 35 pounds to a minimum of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.

Pay

Pay is based on experience.
