About the role

An integral part of our leadership and care team, the Maintenance Director/Manager will keep the building(s), equipment, and utilities in good working order and facility grounds properly maintained to ensure a safe environment optimal for quality patient care. This role combines hands-on tasks with department management.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and apply OSHA and Safety regulations.
  • Supervise and manage staff, including recruiting, coaching, and performance management.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance on equipment and supplies.
  • Order and requisition supplies and equipment within budgetary guidelines.
  • Test emergency generator weekly and monthly as required by State and Federal regulations.
  • Follow established safety rules, policies, and procedures of the maintenance department.
  • Cooperate with and support other department supervisors and employees.
  • Maintain the building in compliance with Federal, State, and Local codes and laws.
  • Lead and attend monthly in-service education programs to meet facility educational hour requirements.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance management to staff.
  • Interview and make recommendations for hiring decisions of maintenance staff.
  • Provide training and orientation to new staff—within and outside the maintenance department.
  • Attend department supervisor meetings and participate on required committees.
  • Manage budgets and supplies, and fulfill department supervisor responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Practical knowledge of day-to-day maintenance and facility physical plant upkeep.
  • Experience in HVAC, electrical, and plumbing preferred.
  • Ability to lead staff and/or provide strong leadership within the facility.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to integrate well with other department leaders, partnering to ensure the highest level of care is delivered.
  • Genuine caring for and interest in elderly and disabled people in a nursing facility.
  • High school diploma.
  • One (1) year of supervisory and management experience.
