Maintenance Director - Assisted Living

About the Role

In the Maintenance Director role, you will provide maintenance services to the building, apartments, equipment, and grounds of our assisted living community. You oversee the care center to ensure it is safe for all residents, their family members, and staff, creating a comfortable, secure, and thriving environment.

This position allows you to work in a welcoming, home-like setting with like-minded healthcare providers and serve on the community’s leadership team. Your hard work and expertise directly impact the safety and well-being of residents.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering preventive maintenance for the building, equipment, and grounds.
• Perform repairs under the supervision of the Executive Director, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting, following accepted codes.
• Arrange for and manage contract repairs, maintenance, and construction services for the community.
• Monitor and record building and water temperatures, adjusting to meet regulations and safety codes.
• Ensure strict adherence to fire safety and hazardous chemical procedures, promptly addressing unsafe conditions or equipment problems.
• Perform ongoing floor care, including carpet cleaning in resident apartments and common areas.
• Oversee and guide the work of the Maintenance Assistant, if applicable.
• Remove trash gathered by housekeepers and caregivers on a daily basis.
• Maintain grounds in a professional, well-groomed manner, either through regular upkeep or by coordinating with a landscape company.

Requirements

• Vocational or Trade School degree in general maintenance or three years of experience in carpentry, electrical, or painting work.
• Experience with budgets is helpful.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a private vehicle for business use.
