Air Liquide Large Industries provides industrial gas and energy solutions to customers in the chemicals, petrochemicals, refining, and steel industries. We own and operate over 2,000 miles of industrial gas pipelines in the U.S., supplying oxygen, nitrogen, hydrogen, and syngas to major customers. Our pipeline operations and industrial gas production facilities are closely monitored 24/7 within our operations control center in Houston, Texas.

Responsibilities

Ensure the efficient and effective maintenance of assets, facilities, and equipment to support operational success and safety. This includes maintaining all facilities in compliance with governmental regulations and Air Liquide policies, providing support for regulatory training, and maintaining documentation.

  • Maintain all necessary licenses and permits
  • Roll out and implementation of the AL turnaround standard operating procedure and ensure sustainable use thereof
  • Lead the implementation of a standard maintenance planning system
  • Report and investigate all incidents and ensure corrective actions are complete
  • Lead and coordinate maintenance activities at different sites
  • Lead the Maximo utilization effort as well as asset and work management practices
  • Contribute to performance evaluations, hiring, promotions, and assignments for maintenance personnel
  • Maintain all facilities safely and reliably, meeting or exceeding company safety standards
  • Ensure all maintenance is completed in compliance with the Safe Work Permit process
  • Accountable for efficient execution of the Maintenance Management Process, emphasizing the TAR SOP
  • Monitor, trend, and report on the effectiveness of MMP through KPIs
  • Work with the Maintenance analyst to ensure accuracy of KPIs
  • Keep Maintenance documentation current, including equipment files and manuals, job plans, and Maximo records
  • Assist with equipment troubleshooting as required
  • Establish clear delegation of authority to trained subordinates
  • Foster positive customer relationships both internal and external to the corporation
  • Partner with Plant Managers and Zone Directors to execute predictive and preventive maintenance
  • Set and maintain high housekeeping standards to exemplify and improve the Air Liquide image
  • Participate in new project planning and development to ensure reliability, accessibility, and maintainability of new equipment
  • Adhere to Management of Change procedure
  • Develop and lead people, modeling exemplary safety behavior and leading by personal example
  • Coach employees and peers in their role in TAR SOP
  • Work to achieve "Zero Accidents" by taking a leadership role in safety
  • Conduct annual performance reviews with each employee and implement individual development plans
  • Manage costs, understanding, monitoring, and optimizing maintenance costs within authorized budget
  • Identify and implement opportunities to reduce costs within delegated authorization
  • Participate in the capital planning process annually and with multi-year forecasts
  • Control overtime within established limits
  • Continuously work to help improve efficiency and availability indicators
  • Utilize national purchasing agreements and frame agreements where possible
  • Balance maintenance cost control and schedules with variable cost impact, end-use customer impact, and overall operating income impact to AL

Requirements

Candidates must have a mechanical or electrical engineering degree or relevant qualification, plus 10+ years of process industry experience. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are acceptable.

  • Valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future
  • Technical and working understanding of the plant process – ASU, Cogen, and CO2 or H2, Syngas, and HyCO
  • Frequent travel – typically 6 to 12 trips per year
  • Extensive experience with Maintenance Planning and Scheduling and working within a maintenance system that requires both
  • Ability to lead and coach employees and peers in Air Liquide's TAR SOP
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for operating and maintaining plants
  • Ability to lead and participate in root cause analysis investigations
  • Computer literacy – familiarity with Google suite of applications, able to remotely access Intranet and learn to use internal systems including Maximo and MS Project
  • Trainable on Distributed Process Control (DCS) operation and troubleshooting
  • Detailed knowledge of personnel and equipment planning and scheduling techniques to optimize cost vs. downtime
  • Able to deliver and explain training material to maintenance personnel
  • Extremely organized and effective at time management – able to establish and maintain equipment filing system and control of engineering documents
  • Ability to interpret key operating documents
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude for equipment operation and troubleshooting
  • Working knowledge of acoustic vibration technology as a predictive maintenance tool
  • Detailed understanding of maintenance and technology of gas compression equipment
  • Working knowledge of commercial agreements and AL customer relations
  • Excellent communication and team leadership skills
  • General understanding of accounting principles and working knowledge of maintenance operating budget
  • Ability to work extended hours and shift work as business needs dictate
  • On call nights, weekends, and holidays as required

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include industrial gas experience.
