About the role
The Maintenance Buyer is responsible for sourcing and acquiring parts/tools, tracking all indirect spend vs budget data for the Milton site, ensuring suppliers deliver parts on committed timelines to support the Maintenance Group’s ability to respond to failures. This role also maintains accuracy of inventory in the Milton Husky Facility and provides hands-on support when needed.
Responsibilities
- Source parts to ensure the best quality, availability, and cost.
- Maintain Maintenance cost metrics, top 10 spend, and PO list; facilitate cost meetings with management.
- Source and order tools for the Maintenance Technicians.
- Monitor delivery time of orders and vendor performance.
- Reconcile discrepancies on orders to guarantee accurate order delivery.
- Work in accordance with Non-Production Spend to adjust purchase orders to meet inventory demands necessary for production.
- Assist departments in initiating requisitions and orders, and solve problems with orders.
- Analyze indirect spending regularly to identify and execute cost-saving opportunities.
- Monitor and communicate with the maintenance leadership team on any changes to shipping, overages, shortages, or other order changes.
- Compile requests for quotation/proposal packages.
- Communicate frequently with suppliers to ensure optimized performance, delivery, and product quality.
- Initiate NDAs and vendor requests with suppliers.
- Meet with suppliers occasionally.
- Place orders for indirect materials by converting purchase requisitions into purchase orders in a timely manner.
- Analyze, recommend, and manage data requirements for accurate and timely decision support for the Maintenance group.
- Monitor and participate in ensuring all Key Performance Indicators (Safety, Quality, and Productivity) are achieved as related to Maintenance Team effectiveness.
- Receive and inventory parts; provide material handling needs for the Maintenance Team.
- Create and complete work orders and enter data into CMMS.
- Develop and refine existing work processes/procedures for this role.
- Support Kaizen and 5S events to ensure continuous improvement and growth.
- Support EH&S initiatives throughout the facility, ensuring safety, housekeeping, and quality standards are maintained.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years’ experience in Material Handling.
- 3-5 years’ experience in purchasing.
- 2-5 years’ experience with inventory control and management.
- Equipment maintenance knowledge an asset.
- ERP or CMMS experience an asset.
- Working knowledge of Excel.
- Ability to support the implementation of new software solutions for the inventory of parts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- A versatile learner, receptive to change, and able to pick up new technical knowledge quickly.

- Comfortable interacting with various teams.
- High School Diploma.
Schedule
Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
Pay
$32 - $36 per hour.
