Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on all production machinery.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and practice good safe work habits.
  • Fabricate chutes, equipment guarding, etc.
  • Operate standard fabricating equipment such as saws, benders, etc.
  • Disassemble machines and perform necessary repairs using hand tools.
  • Replace broken or defective parts.
  • Troubleshoot and repair pneumatic systems/problems.
  • Troubleshoot control systems.
  • Use standard electrical test equipment.
  • Perform routine upkeep and troubleshoot PLC systems; understand or decipher PLC ladder logic.
  • Read electrical schematics, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Use a laptop/notebook computer for machine program diagnostics.
  • Diagnose problems with process machinery and repair them.
  • Operate standard hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Perform standard shop computations relating to dimensions of the job, up through geometric calculations.

Requirements

  • PLC knowledge, including familiarity with Allen Bradley and Direct Logic PLCs.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and blueprints.
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience with standard hand tools and measuring instruments.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Readily accepts new assignments and is receptive to feedback.
  • Employees who have been in their position for one year or more will be considered first.

Preferred qualifications include welding experience (MIG, TIG, and Stick Welding), experience bending conduit and pulling wire for electrical service, and PLC programming.

Physical Traits

  • Regularly required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, and climb or balance.
  • Occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear.
  • Must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

Clean factory environment. The employee is regularly exposed to vibration, works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places, and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level can be loud.
