Maintenance Duties
- Perform routine preventive maintenance throughout the facility.
- Complete assigned maintenance work orders promptly.
- Aid with plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and general building repairs.
- Repair doors, locks, furniture, fixtures, and equipment.
- Replace light bulbs, ceiling tiles, and other building components.
- Maintain hospital grounds, sidewalks, parking areas, and landscaping.
- Perform routine inspections of the facility to identify safety concerns.
- Aid with emergency repairs as needed.
- Maintain maintenance tools and equipment in safe working order.
- Aid with room setup and furniture moves.
- Participate in emergency preparedness activities and disaster response.
- Aid with weekend safety rounds and on-call responsibilities as assigned.
Transportation Duties
- Safely transport patients to and from medical appointments, admissions, discharges, and other approved destinations.
- Operate hospital vehicles safely and courteously.
- Aid patients entering and exiting vehicles when appropriate.
- Secure wheelchairs and mobility equipment according to safety standards.
- Complete vehicle inspection checklists before and after each trip.
- Report vehicle maintenance concerns promptly.
- Ensure vehicles remain clean, fueled, and ready for service.
- Follow all hospital transportation policies and defensive driving practices.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all OSHA, CMS, Joint Commission, and hospital safety requirements.
- Participate in fire drills, disaster drills, and emergency preparedness activities.
- Maintain knowledge of infection prevention practices.
- Follow proper procedures for handling hazardous materials and waste.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Mississippi driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass a motor vehicle record (MVR) review.
- Basic knowledge of building maintenance, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical repairs.
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, and lifting.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to safely operate hospital vehicles and maintenance equipment.
