Maintenance Assistant

St. James Parish in Red Bank, NJ is seeking two full-time maintenance/custodial assistants.

Schedule

• 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday

Pay

• $24 – $26 per hour
• Additional salary bonus consideration for candidates possessing NJ low-pressure boiler black seal license

Responsibilities

• Routinely inspect facilities and report any issues on the property requiring maintenance attention
• Perform a variety of simple maintenance/minor repair activities on the interior/exterior areas of the property, including, but not limited to:
  • Painting, drywall
  • Clearing drain clogs
  • Repairing toilets
  • Replacing lighting as needed
  • Restocking restrooms
  • Assisting teachers with simple maintenance requests
• Operate various simple power equipment necessary to perform preventive maintenance, minor repairs, and maintain property cleanliness
• Set up and break down a large number of chairs and equipment for various events
• Periodically inspect air handling, replace filters and grease components as needed, and maintain logs of this preventative maintenance work
• Custodial duties in various buildings of the complex, including:
  • Emptying trash cans
  • Sweeping sidewalks
  • Wet mopping sidewalks
  • Operating a steam cleaner
  • Operating a hand vacuum
• Assist in inventory control/management/record keeping
• Perform additional maintenance duties as assigned

Requirements

• Must successfully pass a criminal background check
• Must be a team player with a positive attitude, willing to work well with other staff members and take direction accordingly
• Must possess basic troubleshooting skills and prioritization skills for handling a busy complex
• Must be physically able to lift up to 50 lb. items independently
• Must be physically able to set up and break down a large number of chairs and equipment for various events
