About the role

The Maintenance Assistant will perform various tasks related to the maintenance and repair of buildings, grounds, equipment, and appliances. This role is crucial for maintaining a safe, clean, and functional work environment while supporting the overall operations of the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Inspect buildings and grounds regularly, ensuring all areas are in good condition.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and repairing doors/windows.
  • Address basic plumbing issues as they arise.
  • Perform non-electrical building maintenance and care for tools and equipment.
  • Change oil in company vehicles and maintain equipment as needed.
  • Ensure that the facility grounds and parking lots are clean of debris and garbage.
  • Review work order priorities daily and ensure timely completion.
  • Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts as required for maintenance tasks.
  • Charge time accurately in the time and attendance system for payroll purposes.
  • Follow manufacturing instructions, work independently, and complete tasks on time.
  • Advise the supervisor or maintenance team regarding any equipment malfunctions or issues.
  • Clean work areas as required, keeping the environment organized and safe.
  • Work overtime and be on-call as needed.
  • Adhere to government regulations, company policies, and procedures at all times.

Requirements

  • High school education preferred.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions from superiors.
  • Effective communication and listening skills.
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and technical drawings.
  • Basic mathematical skills for measurements and calculations.
  • Strong self-motivation and problem-solving skills.
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills to collaborate with coworkers.

Working Environment

Work is performed in an industrial production area where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, and high noise levels. There are seasonal temperature variations, including extreme heat and cold. Stress may arise from the need to meet deadlines and maintain product quality standards. The role may require flexibility in working hours depending on production demands.
