About the Role
Plan, organize, develop, and assist the Maintenance Supervisor with the overall operation of the Maintenance Department to ensure the facility is maintained in a safe and comfortable manner in accordance with current local, state, and federal standards, guidelines, and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assist with conducting regular rounds of the facility to inspect all maintenance zones for quality control, safety, health, and welfare of patients, employees, families, and visitors; report or correct equipment failure or damage immediately.
- Assist with checking air conditioning and heating units on the roof and in patients' rooms, offices, and other areas of the facility.
- Assist with inspecting pump stations, breaker panels, washers, and dryers in the laundry.
- Perform daily repairs as needed.
- Check water and boiler temperatures, dietary cooking equipment, cooling equipment, public address systems, fire extinguishers and alarms, fire doors, and electrical outlets.
- Inspect storage rooms, work rooms, utility and janitorial closets for upkeep, supply control, and safety.
- Coordinate maintenance department work with other departments to avoid interrupting patient care or normal business functions.
- Be on call for emergencies.
- Run errands, handle incoming and outgoing freight, lift and move heavy furniture and equipment, and perform other miscellaneous duties as directed by the administrator.
- Maintain and repair institutional property, equipment, and grounds as directed by the administrator.
- Regularly inspect property and equipment for compliance with safety regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong communication skills and active listening.
- Willingness to work unscheduled overtime and weekends if needed.
- Flexible work hours.
- Experience in painting and drywall.
- Experience in electric and plumbing work.
- Ability to perform moderate to heavy physical effort, including lifting up to 65 pounds.
- Frequent walking or standing required.
Previous maintenance experience preferred.
