Maintenance Assistant

About the role

Bella Vista is currently seeking a Maintenance Assistant to assist with daily maintenance functions. This individual will work full-time hours under the Maintenance Director, ensuring the facility’s equipment, utilities, and grounds are maintained in good working order.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, and landscaping tasks.
• Maintain facility equipment and utilities in good working order.
• Ensure facility grounds are properly maintained.
• Drive and maintain the facility van/bus for resident transportation, including safe loading/unloading and vehicle upkeep.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, vendors, and the public.
• Follow building codes, safety regulations (OSHA), and equipment operation rules.
• Assist in emergency and routine resident transport as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write in English and follow oral and written directions.
• Valid state driver’s license with a clean driving history.
• Related experience in electronics, carpentry, masonry, or similar fields.
• Meet federal, state, and local health regulations, including passing a criminal background check and reference verification.
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without accommodation.

Skills

• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Familiarity with OSHA and other safety requirements.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to organize and manage time effectively.
• Compassion for and desire to work with the elderly.
