Maintenance Assistant

Responsibilities

• Aids in the maintenance operations of the facility.
• Performs repairs and maintenance on equipment and supplies.
• Follows established safety rules, policies, and procedures of the maintenance department.
• Maintains the building in good repair and keeps it free of hazards like electrical, plumbing, heating, and cooling systems.
• Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and Local codes and laws.
• Coordinates maintenance work with other departments.
• Carries out routine maintenance tasks such as painting, minor carpentry, repairing, changing light bulbs, and other similar tasks.
• Maintains the grounds by mowing, trimming grass, bushes, and trees, picking up leaves and litter, clearing sidewalks of debris, and managing erosion.
• Keeps work areas and storage rooms neat and orderly.
• Performs duties such as washing windows and screens outside the building.
• Performs other special projects and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Background in maintenance work.
• High school diploma or equivalent with related work experience.
• Experience operating various pieces of equipment such as lawn mower, weed eater, blower, edger, pressure washer, chainsaw, etc.
• Sensitivity to the needs and concerns of elderly or disabled residents.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
