Chambliss Center for Children is a 24/7/365 nonprofit serving children, youth, and families in Chattanooga, TN. The Maintenance Assistant helps keep facilities clean, safe, and running smoothly across agency locations. Responsibilities
- Complete maintenance work orders and preventive maintenance tasks
- Help with general building repairs, including:
- Plumbing
- Basic electrical work
- Carpentry
- Painting
- HVAC support
- Inspect facilities and report maintenance or safety concerns
- Install, move, and repair furniture, fixtures, and equipment
- Respond to urgent maintenance needs as they come up
- Help keep agency facilities clean, safe, and operating smoothly
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools
- Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check (required for working around children)
- At least 1 year of general building maintenance, construction, or handyman experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or HVAC
- Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb ladders throughout the day
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Willingness to travel between multiple agency locations throughout the Chattanooga area

Pay
Pay: $17–$20 per hour, based on skills and experience. A company work truck is provided during your shift. Hands-on training and the opportunity to grow your skills are included.
Schedule
Monday‑Friday daytime hours. No on‑call rotation; after‑hours needs are rare (only occasional evenings or weekends for emergencies or urgent repairs).
