Maintenance Assistant

About the role

Apple Rehab Rocky Hill is a 100-bed skilled nursing center located right off the Silas Deane Highway in Rocky Hill, CT. Our facility features private and semi-private rooms that are spacious enough for our residents to fit their favorite chair. We enjoy events throughout the year such as picnics and other activities for both staff and residents to enjoy inside or outside in our courtyard. Apple Rehab is a family-owned and operated company that treats residents and staff like family.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and repairs the facility’s physical plant and its various systems including plumbing, electrical, structural and equipment.
• Maintains grounds and operates equipment, power and hand tools safely.
• Advises appropriate facility personnel of any potential shut-downs to enable staff to provide alternate plans for the continuation of operations.
• Plans efficient use of time, cooperates with all other staff, and performs responsibilities with minimal disruption to the facility.
• Inspects facility and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor any needed repairs.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a hospital or long-term care facility preferred.
• Ability to perform and working knowledge of routine plumbing, electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and grounds-keeping tasks including painting, wallpapering, and shoveling snow.
• Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Demonstrates cooperation in assisting others and ability to work as a team.
• Patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward residents and their support networks.
