About the role

The Maintenance Area Supervisor oversees the maintenance of assigned recreational facilities, grounds, and equipment, ensuring a clean and safe environment for both citizens and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares athletic fields for daily games.
  • Performs daily custodial care and general maintenance of facilities.
  • Conducts quality control inspections of facilities, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and standards of quality and safety.
  • Evaluates the need for equipment, supplies, and materials and reports findings to the Facilities/Project Superintendent.
  • Operates various tools including vehicles, tractors, paint machines, pressure washers, sod cutters, line machines, weather radars, mechanic’s tools, and carpentry tools.
  • Assists in the supervision of maintenance staff, performing supervisory duties such as instruction, assignment, review, and planning of work.
  • Informs the Supervisor of employee problems and reviews the work of direct reports for accuracy, evaluating and making recommendations.
  • Reviews and maintains various records including billing invoices, accident reports, schedules, and vehicle maintenance records.
  • Serves as the primary contact for facilities under oversight, responding to issues as needed and recommending capital items for budget requests.
  • Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma supplemented by 3-4 years of supervisory experience in the maintenance field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid South Carolina driver's license; performs commercial driver's license duties while holding a valid CDL.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Frequently required to perform basic physical activities and communicate effectively to carry out essential job duties.
  • Must be able to reach, bend, stoop, carry, move, and lift 100 lb. objects regularly.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
