Maintenance Apprentice

About the Role

Bimbo Bakeries USA is seeking a Maintenance Apprentice to join our team. This role is an excellent opportunity to develop and learn maintenance skills, ensuring effective equipment operation in our bakery. The Maintenance Apprentice will work towards completing required coursework and on-the-job training to attain minimum requirements of maintenance skillsets within a specified time frame.

Responsibilities

• Learn and develop safety requirements, mechanical, troubleshooting, communication, and behavioral skillsets to function efficiently at minimum required qualified mechanic standards.
• Successfully complete required coursework to develop required maintenance skillsets.
• Learn to perform preventive maintenance on bakery equipment.
• Assist in inspection and upkeep of machinery and equipment.
li>Learn to repair/replace components on motors, pumps, mixers, conveyor lines, ovens, coolers, etc.
• Learn to inspect/replace belts, hoses, and drive components as needed.
• Ensure equipment integrity and timely repair.
• Complete and document work orders on equipment.
• Ensure equipment is maintained, guarded, and operated in accordance with defined safety regulations and procedures.
• Understand levels of line downtime and waste caused by equipment issues and associated points of cause.
• Proactively identify improvement focus areas.
• Participate in root cause problem solving by team.
• Identify potential cost savings and cost avoidance.
• Encourage all associates to work in a safe manner and in accordance with defined safety regulations and procedures.

Requirements

• Fluent in English.
• Pass required exam/test for acceptance into Apprenticeship program.
• Flexibility to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and overtime as scheduled.
• Able to attain basic maintenance skills.
• Able to attain basic computer skills.
• Ability to work off ground level with proper safety training and safety equipment.
• Ability to work in a non-air-conditioned environment.

Qualifications

Preferred: Experience in a bakery.

Pay

Great starting pay rate of $30.45/hr.
