Maintenance and MRO Buyer

About the role
Ferguson Industrial is seeking a Buyer Associate to provide procurement expertise and customer service functions while working on-site with a team at our customer location in La Porte, IN. The ideal candidate is an energetic, highly motivated individual who embraces new challenges and aligns with the Company’s strategic vision. This role thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment and drives process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Perform a range of procurement activities
- Monitor inventory and manage product shortages
- Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and internal departments, acting as the point of contact for queries
- Lead negotiations of contracts, including terms and volume discounts
- Draft procurement reports, analyze inventory and project utilization, and recommend insights
- Expedite orders
- Reconcile payable discrepancies
- Manage freight billing and audit processes
- Research specifications of products not clearly identified
- Enter and edit purchase orders and blanket order releases
- Ensure product file integrity
- Maintain good customer and supplier relations
- Reconcile customer problems
- Assist in the warehouse as needed
Requirements
- Previous experience in a buyer role preferred
- Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) experience preferred
- Proven ability to follow documented procedures
- Knowledge of Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) products is preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office software
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and a high level of accuracy
- Strong customer service and problem-solving skills
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and excellent communication skills

Pay
Pay Range: $15.00 - $31.74 per hour. This role is bonus or incentive plan eligible. Estimated ranges displayed are hourly for this position. The starting wage may be higher in certain locations based on local or state wage requirements.
