This role offers long-term career growth and is classified as a Maintenance/Grounds Technician with the Office of Administration Division of Facilities Management, Design, and Construction (OA-FMDC).

Responsibilities

  • Perform manual labor related to receiving, handling, transportation, and storage of building materials, furniture, equipment, supplies, and similar items.
  • Perform heavy lifting, manual labor, and operate machinery and heavy equipment as needed.
  • Complete semi-skilled work in the alteration, maintenance, and repair of state buildings, facilities, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Maintain grounds through horticultural care, debris and trash disposal, snow removal, and salt application.
  • Assist in cleaning parking lots and patching and painting asphalt.
  • Perform light electrical, plumbing, drywall repairs, and painting.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on facilities, equipment, and associated systems according to work orders or verbal instructions.
  • Execute assignments in the form of work orders in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Operate under general supervision; receive and act upon direction, guidance, and feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Answer emergency calls and occasionally travel to other facilities to provide coverage and assistance.
  • Provide after-hours and emergency coverage at state facilities (e.g., severe weather, snow removal, water leaks, fire) to ensure facilities and grounds are properly maintained.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate, collaborate, and lead with integrity to build trust with a diverse group of stakeholders and the public.
  • Prior experience and general knowledge of light trades work, general maintenance, and repairs.
  • Ability to understand and carry out time-sensitive instructions independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to work outdoors under varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to operate gas- and hand-powered lawn maintenance tools and equipment such as mowing machinery, tractors, and other motorized equipment.
  • Excellent attendance, work ethic, attention to detail, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to properly lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Safety-first mindset with knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions (OSHA 10 and/or 30 preferred, but training can be provided).
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver license from Missouri or an adjacent state if residing outside Missouri.
  • Successful background check results are required for employment.
  • Authorization to work in the United States (no work visa sponsorship provided).

This position is physically demanding. Duties may include prolonged periods of walking, standing, sitting, bending, driving, climbing ladders, lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, working in inclement weather, and working on uneven or elevated surfaces.
