About the role

To help maintain the district's physical plant in a state of operating excellence that it presents no problems or interruptions to the educational process.

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma or training and experience that are considered equivalent.
  • Documented knowledge of basic carpentry, plumbing, electricity, HVAC systems, and other basic building systems.
  • A low-pressure boiler license preferred.
  • Good human relations with the ability to communicate in a courteous manner.
  • Ability to work with little supervision.
  • A neat appearance.
  • Basic computer skills including email, ability to be trained on various software to document inventory, work order entry, internet search, etc.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Performs needed carpentry, electrical, masonry, plumbing, and general repairs/maintenance as directed by the Chief Operating Officer or designee.
  • Performs HVAC repairs and maintenance as capabilities allow under the guidance of the HVAC Mechanic, including preventative maintenance duties.
  • Assists with snow removal; seasonal duties may require being on call as needed.
  • Assists the HVAC Supervisor in the continual examination of district-owned facilities for corrective and/or preventative maintenance.
  • Complies with all Federal, state, and local laws and regulations for the storage, use, and disposal of trash, rubbish, waste, and hazardous material (OSHA).
  • Ensures the safety of students.
  • Establishes and maintains cooperative professional relationships.
  • Remains free of any alcohol or nonprescription controlled substance and abuse of any prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout employment.
  • Exhibits professional behavior, emotional stability, and sound judgment.
  • Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.

Schedule

261 days (251 workdays; 10 paid holidays) • 8 hours per day excluding lunch • 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM

Pay

$25.43 – $29.44 per hour, as provided by negotiated agreement.
