About the role

The Housekeeper is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the designated YMCA facility, ensuring quality, safe, and healthy environments for our community.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning of assigned facility, including but not limited to:
  • Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and locker rooms
  • Vacuuming, dusting, and mopping
  • Trash removal and spill cleanup
  • Window cleaning
  • Floor cleaning and maintenance in all areas of the Y
• Maintain all cleaning equipment, supplies, and products; ensure safe and sanitary storage and care of products.
• Operate vacuuming equipment; clean carpets and perform treatments such as shampoo or stain-removal as needed.
• Follow all directions for cleaning chemicals and supplies.
• Maintain proper supply levels and report inventory or supply needs to supervisor in a timely manner.
• Interact with members and staff in a positive, professional manner that supports our cause.
• Report any maintenance issues or concerns to supervisor immediately.
• Assist with or perform projects of a special nature.
• Must be able to read and write legibly and in an understandable manner.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

• High School diploma preferred.
• Previous experience in commercial housekeeping required.
• Janitorial, Custodial, or Floor Maintenance certification preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire.
• Must be 18 years of age.

• Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to move and lift 50-75 lbs.
• Must be willing and able to climb a ladder.
• Frequent standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and bending.

Work Environment

• Moderate to noisy work environment.
• May be required to work outside and may encounter inclement weather.
