About the role
The Housekeeper is responsible for the overall cleanliness of the designated YMCA facility, ensuring quality, safe, and healthy environments for our community.
Responsibilities
- Perform daily cleaning of assigned facility, including but not limited to:
- Cleaning and sanitizing restrooms and locker rooms
- Vacuuming, dusting, and mopping
- Trash removal and spill cleanup
- Window cleaning
- Floor cleaning and maintenance in all areas of the Y
- Maintain all cleaning equipment, supplies, and products; ensure safe and sanitary storage and care of products.
- Operate vacuuming equipment; clean carpets and perform treatments such as shampoo or stain-removal as needed.
- Follow all directions for cleaning chemicals and supplies.
- Maintain proper supply levels and report inventory or supply needs to supervisor in a timely manner.
- Interact with members and staff in a positive, professional manner that supports our cause.
- Report any maintenance issues or concerns to supervisor immediately.
- Assist with or perform projects of a special nature.
- Must be able to read and write legibly and in an understandable manner.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements
- High School diploma preferred.
- Previous experience in commercial housekeeping required.
- Janitorial, Custodial, or Floor Maintenance certification preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification and Safety training required within 30 days of hire.
- Must be 18 years of age.

- Willingness and ability to be a mandated reporter for any signs or suspicion of child abuse and neglect.
Physical Demands
- Must be able to move and lift 50-75 lbs.
- Must be willing and able to climb a ladder.
- Frequent standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and bending.
Work Environment
- Moderate to noisy work environment.
- May be required to work outside and may encounter inclement weather.
