Maint. Machine Operator- Packout Line 4 (DS)

About the Role

To ensure that all product is produced to meet specifications and established standards required by the customer and the company.

Responsibilities

• Daily set-up and operation of production machine.
• Enter product code by hand.
• Operate machine to production standards.
• Perform preventive maintenance and inspect equipment on a regular basis.
• Perform basic light maintenance on machine.
• Assist Maintenance Mechanics with troubleshooting activities as needed.
• Properly adjust production machine to ensure efficiency, quality, and accuracy with minimal loss of product.
• Maintain accurate inventory of supplies needed to operate machine.
• Handwritten documentation of product specs and bag usage.
• Participate as a member of the team, including attending team meetings and fostering cohesiveness on major issues.
• Support Simmons' operating systems (e.g., quality, security, company policies) and communicate concerns or improvement ideas.
• Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.

Physical Activities

• Work on feet for entire shift.
• Bending, squatting, stooping, working in elevated areas, climbing stairs and ladders.
• Lift/move 3–20 pound bags of product at waist level.
• Assist in moving 30–150 lbs. rolls of plastic bags and film from cart to machine.
• Work in a cool, wet, and noisy environment.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

• Standard waterproof gloves and sleeves.
• Hearing protection.
• Slip-resistant footwear.
• Safety glasses.
• Lock out lock, hasp, and tag.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
• Basic math skills.
• Adequate mechanical knowledge (demonstrated via an entry-level maintenance examination).
• Troubleshooting machines, basic mechanical and computer literacy.

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in poultry or food processing industry.
