Mainframe Storage Consultant
About the role
The role involves managing the disk space on the mainframe, including all facets of storage management—install, remove, upgrade, update, restore, provision, etc. Provide day-to-day support of the environment, such as daily health checks, checking the incident queue and resolving any problems. Raise changes and implement additional capacity. Configure storage, install and maintain software, monitor, and sustain the storage in databases, VSAM files, work and sort space to allow proper processing.
Responsibilities
- CA Disk Sysprog and disk space management activities—install, test, evaluate storage space and manage additional requests for disk space
- z/OS hardware planning, IODF, LPAR, HMC configuration & management and associated activities
- Administer and execute all backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and related capabilities
- Install, maintain, and upgrade any product in a mainframe z/OS environment using mainframe SMP/E and zOSMF
- Volume space and capacity management and performing disaster recovery drills as needed
- Coordinate across support teams to quickly resolve disruptions, performs root cause analysis, and takes preventative measures
- Use mainframe automation tools for management of disk and storage space e.g. Netview, SA, CA-OPs etc. or any other relevant tools
- Automate manual interventions in the Storage infrastructure
- Provide zSeries storage hardware/software design, configuration, implementation and support
Required Skills
10+ years of experience with:
- IBM - DS8K disk hardware installation and upgrade, DSCLI knowledge, GDPS, PPRC Metro, DFHSM / DFDSS / ICKDSF, zOS IODF
- EMC DLM virtual tape hardware installation and upgrade, DLm configuration
- Broadcomm (Brocade) DCX OR FICON
- zOS JCL / Job scheduling
- CA1 / Vantage / Disk skill set
- TDMFS skill set
- TS7720 and DS8870 storage support, Grid and PPRC, SMS, RMM customization
- Experience in mainframe storage monitoring tool
Pay
The starting hourly range for this remote role is $95–$106/hour. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Actual compensation will depend on several factors, including the candidate's actual work location, relevant experience, technical skills, and other qualifications. This position may also be eligible for incentive compensation based on individual and/or company performance.
