Mainframe Storage (DASD and Tape) Engineer
About the role
Perform daily Storage mgmt activities relating to SMS routines, DASD pools monitoring housekeeping batch jobs and oncall support. Troubleshoot basic space issues, perform migrate and archive functions. Implement routine storage type changes relating to client requests to add or move volumes. Troubleshoot JCL errors and resolve them. Create and maintain core system backups. Login and monitor IBM TS7700 grids. Understand the incident, change and problem processes and execute the processes. Implement new storage solutions. Perform and Lead DR drills and provide direction to other drill team members. Create and manage SMS spools. Configure Tape and DASD hardware devices from the device level. Peer reviews all storage changes that the team executes. Administration of Storage software. Setup and troubleshoot storage replication (Tape and DASD). Troubleshoot IBM grid failures and have an in-depth understanding of how to monitor and manage it across multiple clusters in multiple locations. Lead Storage restoration efforts during outages.

Requirements
Experience with z/OS Storage Management, troubleshooting JCL errors, and implementing storage solutions is required. Knowledge of IBM TS7700 grids, incident, change, and problem processes, and disaster recovery drills is essential. Experience with storage replication (Tape and DASD), troubleshooting IBM grid failures, and leading storage restoration efforts is preferred.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred. Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in z/OS Storage Management, troubleshooting JCL errors, and implementing storage solutions. Must have a strong understanding of IBM TS7700 grids, incident, change, and problem processes, and disaster recovery drills. Experience with storage replication (Tape and DASD), troubleshooting IBM grid failures, and leading storage restoration efforts is preferred.
Skills
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in using IBM TS7700 grids, incident, change, and problem processes, and disaster recovery drills. Familiarity with storage replication (Tape and DASD), troubleshooting IBM grid failures, and leading storage restoration efforts.

Pay
A reasonable estimate of the current compensation range for this position is $76,700 - $142,500.
Schedule
On-call 7x24 rotation.
