About the Role

This position supports the Nevada DMV IT teams by maintaining and enhancing legacy systems, producing reports, and ensuring data integrity and security. The role involves extensive work with COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, and ZEKE, as well as collaboration with DMV personnel to deliver project tasks and documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Produce extensive reports and data exports.
  • Provide status reports as required by DMV personnel.
  • Log activity and time using DMV time tracking software (Jira) daily.
  • Follow guidelines and protocols established by Nevada DMV.
  • Support DMV IT teams as needed, including troubleshooting and application lifecycle management.
  • Document changes, procedures, and checklists.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to communications via Webex, MS Teams, and email.
  • Interact with DMV IT teams to complete assigned tasks.
  • Strictly adhere to DMV IT standards and procedures.
  • Perform DB2 database and dataset backup and recovery.
  • Refresh data, clone, and establish additional application environments as needed.
  • Aid in data conversion projects and extract data to staging environments.
  • Maintain privacy and security of data.
  • Support application development tools and database migrations.
  • Document and update procedures and checklists.
  • Coordinate disaster recovery (DR) testing and support data conversion and migration.
  • Assist with SQL review and tuning.
  • Discuss business requirements and assist with application and database design.

Deliverables

  • Complete work and project tasks as assigned.
  • Provide daily/weekly status reports detailing tasks and hours spent.
  • Report overall project completion status relative to the approved plan and schedule.
  • Document problems encountered, proposed resolutions, and actual resolutions.
  • Document issues requiring attention and accomplishments during the reporting period.
  • Outline activities planned for the next reporting period.

Requirements

  • Minimum of nine (9) years of experience in COBOL, CICS, DB2 queries, and JCL.
  • Experience working in complex DB2 environments with multiple subsystems.
  • Proficiency with z/OS tools and utilities: TSO, ISPF, SDSF, JCL, RACF, REXX.
  • Experience using DB2 tools such as SPUFI, QMF, or equivalent.
  • Ability to make entries in DB2 utilities.
  • Experience collaborating with IT teams to understand requirements and design databases.
  • Expertise in evaluating and tuning SQL queries.
  • Strong knowledge of COBOL/CICS/DB2 application programming environments.
  • Proficiency in analyzing, debugging, and troubleshooting issues and ABENDs.
