About the role
The Maintenance Technician at MBK Senior Living is responsible for ensuring the physical presentation and operational excellence of the community. This includes executing all basic general and preventative maintenance tasks, responding to and completing daily work orders, preparing vacant apartments, adhering to safety protocols, and operating specialized equipment.
Responsibilities
- Execute all basic general and preventative maintenance tasks and repairs (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, landscape, painting, etc.) for the entire community, including grounds, common areas, and resident units.
- Promptly respond to and complete daily work orders, maintenance requests, and troubleshooting.
- Fully prepare vacant apartments for new residents, including all necessary cosmetic and repair work.
- Adhere strictly to all established safety protocols and PPE requirements.
- Maintain clean, organized, safe, and hazard-free work, maintenance, and storage areas.
- Serve as the on-call point of contact for after-hour emergencies.
- Follow established techniques, procedures, and policies for proper handling, storage, use, mixing, and disposal of chemicals.
- Ensure full operation and regulatory compliance of specialized equipment.
- Promptly report any unresolved safety, health, or sanitation issues to the Supervisor.
- Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff, residents, and guests.
- Aid in larger, more complex tasks or coordinate with contractors and vendors when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed by Supervisor, Executive Director, or designee.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Vocation or trade school certification (building maintenance, general repair, HVAC/Plumbing) preferred.
- 1+ years of prior mechanical, troubleshooting, and repair experience preferred; on-the-job training is available.
- Prior experience working in a healthcare, hospital, or senior living/residential setting is a plus.
Qualifications
- Aged 18 or over.
- Must complete required Background clearances, health screening, and provide negative TB test results within 7 days of employment.
- Valid class of driver’s license and valid insurance or reliable method of transportation.
- Effective communication skills, including reading, writing, and speaking English, and ability to follow written and spoken directions.
- Ability to work weekends, evenings, and flexible hours.
- Ability to move intermittently throughout the workday, in the community, and between neighborhoods.
- Ability to carry and lift up to 50 pounds, and push up to 250 pounds, as necessary.
- Ability to assist in the physical movement of residents during routine transfers and emergency situations.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle or have a reliable method of transportation.
Skills
- Knowledge of/or certification in OSHA safety standards, fire/safety prevention, HVAC operation, First Aid, CPR.
- Working knowledge of local building codes, life safety codes, and MSDS/Hazmat handling procedures.
- Ability to safely operate a variety of work tools and equipment.
