Mailroom Specialist

About the role

The Mailroom Specialist is responsible for the intake and distribution of all inbound packages while maintaining accurate shipment control. Additionally, the specialist handles all outbound shipments originating throughout the Long Island City facility.

Responsibilities

• Inbound
  • Physically receive and systemically document all inbound packages from UPS, FedEx, Malca and all other carriers, including breakdown of receipts at the Long Island City dock and transport to the mailroom.
  • Distribute and/or coordinate pickup of packages within the appropriate internal Long Island City departments.
  • Ensure all packages are accounted for and controlled, without loss.
• Outbound
  • Check in all shipments generated by internal Long Island City departments and incorporate with daily pickup.
  • Prepare, label and ship all cartons in accordance with internal shipping policies and procedures.
  • Perform any messenger services as directed by the Shipping Supervisor and Receiving, Distribution and Shipping Manager.
• Other responsibilities
  • Actively assist the Shipping Supervisor and Receiving, Distribution and Shipping Manager with all department tasks.

Qualifications

• 1+ year operations or mailroom experience preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment (multitasking and meeting deadlines)
• Team oriented with a positive attitude
• Ability to lift 25 pound boxes

Pay

$20.00 – $23.00 per hour
