About the role
The Salvation Army seeks a Mail Services Clerk to join our team. This full-time, non-exempt position offers a pay rate of $17.50 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Sort and distribute internal and incoming mail to departments
- Deliver FedEx, DHL, and UPS packages as they arrive
- Process USPS bulk mail, business mail, and express mail
- Verify postage meter every six months by Postmaster
- Maintain records of incoming registered, insured, and certified mail
- Clean and maintain mailroom equipment; contact service when repairs are needed
- Become familiar with THQ organization setup and all changes as they occur
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- One year of mail operations experience preferred
- Ability to be a self-starter, work independently, and make decisions based on general instructions and established procedures
- Excellent interpersonal skills; able to communicate clearly and effectively
- Read and understand instructions
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy; excellent organizational skills
- Working knowledge of Pitney Bowes postage meters and equipment
- Strong understanding of USPS postage regulations and requirements
- Working knowledge of online shipping services (UPS, FedEx, DHL)
- Strong understanding of MS Office software, with a strong understanding of Excel
- Working knowledge of CA driver’s license and a clean driving record
Qualifications
- At least 21 years of age due to driving responsibilities associated with the position
Skills
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
- Ability to be on feet all day and maintain a demanding pace throughout the day
- Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead
- Ability to operate telephone
- Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. (usually file boxes)
- Ability to access and produce information from a computer
- Ability to understand written information
