Mail Screener

Responsibilities

• Mail Screening: Thoroughly inspect incoming mail for hazardous materials, including chemicals, toxins, and other potentially harmful substances using specialized equipment and procedures.
• Safety Procedures: Adhere to strict safety protocols while handling and screening mail, ensuring proper use and maintenance of full personal protective equipment (hood, respirator, head‑to‑toe protective suit).
• Labor‑Intensive Work: Stand for extended periods and perform repetitive motions; lift packages/boxes up to 50 lb (team lift up to 100 lb).
• Cleaning Duties: Maintain a clean and organized work area by mopping, disposing of trash, and performing general cleaning tasks.
• Experience Preferred: Prior military or security experience; familiarity with chemical/toxic testing methodologies is advantageous.

Qualifications

• Active Secret Security Clearance.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certifications in relevant fields preferred.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lb (team lift up to 100 lb).
• Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Demonstrated reliability and integrity in handling sensitive materials and information.
• Background in military service or chemical/toxic testing is encouraged.

Compensation & Benefits

• $24.07 per hour plus $5.09 per hour health and welfare (total $29.16 per hour).

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm (40 hours per week). Location: Northern VA/DC area with onsite parking available.
