Mail Operations Specialist I
About the role
The Mail Operations Specialist position performs a variety of operational, maintenance, training, and related mailing responsibilities in a high-volume, diverse product mailing environment. Responsibilities include sorting and delivering inter-office mail, preparing daily mail shipments for ministry field offices, preparing parcel package shipments, and assisting in the fulfillment of orders.
Responsibilities
- Maintains focus and flexibility in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment.
- Takes initiative in learning all aspects of processing a variety of mailings.
- Communicates essential information, work progress, and concerns in a timely fashion to team members and management.
- Utilizes extensive knowledge of USPS and Distribution Services procedures and is responsible for the proper preparation of assigned mailings.
- Takes direction well and consistently assists fellow mailers in the completion of assignments.
- Sorts and delivers Inter-office mail for the HQ, Library and Archive facility.
- Prepares daily mail shipments for ministry field offices including Samaritans Purse, BRB, The Cove, Montreat and Canada.
- Prepares parcel package shipments for UPS, Fed-Ex USPS and other mail services.
- Makes creative, practical recommendations on how to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and quality of processing mailings.
- Able to quickly switch jobs while maintaining focus and attention to detail; is able to remain calm while under pressure in order to meet deadlines.
- Absorbs and fulfills orders for BGEA Ministry initiatives, Non-ID’s, FOL and Response Center kits as needed.
Requirements
- Maintains a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
- Faithfully upholds BGEA in prayer.
- Participates in daily BGEA staff devotions including Bible reading, and leading group prayer as schedule permits.
- Demonstrates behavior aligned with BGEA’s Mission Statement, Statement of Faith, Hallmarks, policies, and expectations.
- Effectively represents Jesus Christ to those within both personal and professional spheres of influence.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a production environment helpful.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to learn and follow lines of communication and authority.
- Ability to use a PC and accompanying software, Excel and Word.
- Proficient and accurate following of all Distribution Services and USPS procedures.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to safely operate mailing and fulfillment equipment.
- Ability to safely operate industrial trucks and material handling equipment in close quarters.
