Trace Systems is seeking a hands-on network engineer to configure, implement, troubleshoot, and sustain Mobility Air Forces (MAF) traffic integrated into the Enterprise Air Combat Network (EACN) at Scott AFB, Illinois. This position is associated with a project currently in the proposal stage.
Responsibilities
- Configure, implement, and support network infrastructure, operating systems, and computer data exchange equipment used to integrate MAF Operations traffic into EACN.
- Identify and resolve network performance issues affecting MAF Operations.
- Troubleshoot, repair or replace, configure, monitor, and upgrade network equipment and supporting systems.
- Support approved integration, test, installation, transition, and cutover activities for new MAF capabilities.
- Maintain accurate configurations, diagrams, implementation records, tickets, and technical procedures.
- Coordinate with senior engineers, cybersecurity personnel, Government engineers, and operational users.
- Support network monitoring, compliance, performance analysis, and restoration of service.
Requirements
- Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance (minimum); higher-level eligibility may be required based on assigned access.
- US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work and contract requirements.
- Meet applicable DoD 8140 qualification requirements for the assigned work role (Network Operations Specialist, Proficiency Level: Intermediate) through education, military training, certifications, or a combination thereof.
- Qualifying credentials include:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Software Engineering; or completion of relevant military communications or network training.
- Certifications such as CEH, Cloud+, GCIH, GICSP, GSEC, Security+, SSCP, or other DoD 8140-approved certifications. Higher proficiency-level or equivalent certifications may also be accepted.
- 3+ years of network administration or engineering experience supporting enterprise LAN/WAN environments.
- Current Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification, or ability to obtain it within six months of employment.
- DoD-approved IA baseline certification commensurate with the position, or ability to obtain it within six months.
- Experience with Cisco routing and switching, troubleshooting, monitoring, implementation, and technical documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
- Ability to work in a secure DoD environment and comply with applicable Air Force, installation, and program security requirements.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Mobility Air Forces, airborne communications, EACN, A2G2, SATCOM, or Air Force networks.
- Experience with network integration, classified environments, DISA STIGs, SolarWinds, Splunk, or ServiceNow.
- Prior military service or experience supporting Department of Defense or U.S. Air Force customers.
- Experience supporting mission-essential communications in distributed, multi-site environments.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field preferred.
Pay
The base salary range for this position is $78,000 to $100,000. Actual compensation within the range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, location, experience, qualifications, skills, and performance.
