About the role
Trace Systems is seeking a MAF DevOps Engineer to automate provisioning, upgrades, testing, and API-driven workflows for network infrastructure supporting Mobility Air Forces traffic within EACN. The project associated with this position is currently in the proposal stage.
Responsibilities
- Automate provisioning and upgrades of network routers and switches that support MAF Operations traffic.
- Build and maintain ad hoc Python scripts that interact with network APIs in support of MAF Operations.
- Develop repeatable automation workflows for configuration, validation, testing, deployment, and rollback.
- Integrate automation with version control and CI/CD processes and maintain clear technical documentation.
- Support lab, development, test, and production environments used for MAF integration.
- Partner with network engineers to reduce manual effort, improve configuration consistency, and accelerate controlled deployments.
- Troubleshoot automation failures and network API integrations and support secure software and configuration lifecycle practices.
Requirements
- Active, in-scope US Government issued Secret clearance (minimum); higher-level eligibility may be required based on assigned access.
- US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work and contract requirements.
- Meet the applicable DoD 8140 qualification requirements for the assigned work role: 632 System Developer, Proficiency Level: Intermediate; may qualify through education, military training, certifications, or a combination thereof.
- Qualifying credentials include a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Software Engineering, or completion of relevant military communications or network training.
- Qualifying certifications may include CSSLP, GCLD, GSEC, or other DoD 8140-approved certifications. Higher proficiency-level or equivalent DoD 8140-approved certifications applicable to the assigned work role may also be accepted.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel.
- Ability to work in a secure DoD environment and comply with applicable Air Force, installation, and program security requirements.
- 3+ years of DevOps, network automation, software development, or infrastructure engineering experience.
- Current Cisco Certified DevNet Associate certification, or ability to obtain it within six months of employment.
- DoD-approved IA baseline certification commensurate with the position, or ability to obtain it within six months.
- Experience with Python, Git, CI/CD, network APIs, Cisco platforms, and automated infrastructure testing.
Qualifications (Desired)
- Experience with Mobility Air Forces, EACN, A2G2, airborne communications, or Air Force network environments.
- Experience with GitLab CI, EVE-NG, Ansible, DevSecOps, or classified development environments.
- Prior military service or experience supporting Department of Defense or U.S. Air Force customers.
- Experience supporting mission-essential communications in distributed, multi-site environments.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field preferred.
Pay
The base salary range for this position is $92,000 to $120,000. Actual compensation within the range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, location, experience, qualifications, skills, and performance.
