MACHINIST TRAINEE - COMPLETE 3 WEEKS OF FREE TRADES TRAINING

About the role

This position is for job seekers with no trades experience willing to complete three weeks of unpaid training in the Outside Machinist trade.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, test, and repair a ship's major mechanical components and systems.
• Utilize a wide variety of tools and machinery, from basic hand tools to advanced equipment.
• Work in various weather conditions, at extreme heights, and in small, confined spaces.
• Perform tasks requiring physical agility and comfort in challenging conditions.
• Work overtime as needed.
• Be clean-shaven to wear a respirator.
• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Work at extreme heights.
• Work in small, tight, confined spaces.
• Work any shift.

Requirements

• Pass a 3-week (UNPAID) program (120 hours), 7:00am – 3:30pm (Monday – Friday).
• Willing to undergo a background investigation and drug screen.
• Pass physical agility test.
• Able to lift at least 40 pounds.
• Able to perform overhead work.
• Able to work in various weather conditions.
• Able to work at extreme heights.
• Able to work in small, tight, confined spaces.
• Able to work any shift.

Qualifications

• Must be able to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb on a daily basis.

Skills

• Basic hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers).
• Advanced equipment (torque wrenches, micrometers, drill presses, optical instruments, mills, portable machines, boring equipment, precision grinders, lathes).

The anticipated salary range represents the estimated base pay for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors, and may vary from the posted range.
