Day in the Life

Our Machinists perform work associated with renovation, repair, fitting, and assembly of metal parts of machinery or equipment necessary for maintenance or building of new equipment. They set up, operate, and troubleshoot all machines to fabricate, repair, modify, and calibrate gauges, patterns, fixtures, molds, tools, and dies used in the manufacturing environment. They must maintain machine shop equipment and tools and perform other maintenance work if needed.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Work with standard, special, and unusual materials as well as steel, bronze, copper, brass, aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, plastic, and nylon.
• Make specific machine set-ups to hold work that requires specially constructed devices to properly hold and present work to tooling.
• Operate overhead crane, rig, sling, and devices to handle heavy material.
• Operate machine shop equipment such as lathe, milling machine, vertical boring machine, shaper, grinders, band saws, drill presses, and machine shop tooling and attachments.
• Indicate work to repetitive datum planes, parallel, or perpendicular, or concentric to mating parts.
• Maintain machine shop equipment and tools.
• Perform other maintenance work if time is not required in machine shop.

What You’ll Need

• High school diploma, GED, or the Workforce Center's Career Readiness Certification (CRC) with a minimum of Silver Certificate level.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship now or in the future.
• Ability to lift heavy materials, climb, stand, squat, bend, and work at heights with or without reasonable accommodations.
• CNC Machine experience or successful completion of an accredited apprenticeship program in this specific craft.
• Working knowledge of physical properties of common metals (strength in shear, tension, and compression, hardness).

Shift Information

The position is within a fast-paced, heavy industrial environment and may require working within various areas of the factory. Environmental conditions can be hot, cold, and noisy. Safety is our highest priority, and safety procedures/guidelines must be adhered to. This includes safety wear such as hearing and eye protection, protective clothing, and steel-toed shoes.
