Primary Responsibilities
- Making parts: 45% of the time, perform all aspects of machining including setup and operation of CNC mills, lathes, routers, and manual milling machines. Operate equipment using Catia or similar CAM software.
- CNC Programming: 30% of the time, code programs for new parts, create and correct DXF and GNH files, and establish sequencing of cuts for each job.
- Sheet Metal Installation: 10% of the time, read detailed plans and diagrams, inspect and measure parts, cut, grind, or trim parts, and assist in pattern development.
Additional Responsibilities
- Other duties as assigned: managing Personal Time Bank (PTB) and Vacation (VAC) time, part marking, tagging, and completing work orders.
Qualified Experience / Skills / Training
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent, Trade School Certification.
- Experience: Two (2) - Five (5)+ Years of working in a Machine/Fab Shop, Two (2) - Five (5)+ Years of experience in Aerospace (or related/transferrable field).
- Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities: Must be able to write code for CNC programming, read and interpret blueprints, have basic computer skills, effective interfacing with Engineers and Quality, use hand deburr tools, and have aviation sheet metal work experience.
- Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication.
- Technical Systems Proficiency: Intermediate computer skills including use of AutoCAD, EnRoute, Gravostyle, Word, Excel.
Physical Requirements
- Onsite or remote: 100% onsite.
- Vision: Adequate to enter and read material on computer screens or controls on machines, etc.
- Hearing: Able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office, hear safety alerts and warning signals.
- Speaking: Able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying sizes with or without amplification.
- Equipment Operation: Able to operate a personal computer, telephone, copier, fax machine, and related office equipment and using electronic identification card to enter building floors and internal doors.
- Carrying: Able to occasionally carry up to 20lbs/9kg while engaging in training, addressing production issues, or as part of continuous improvement projects.
- Lifting: Able to occasionally lift up to 50lbs/23kg.
- Pushing/Pulling: Able to push/pull items in office areas and on the shop floor.
- Sitting: Able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer and in meetings.
- Squatting/Kneeling: Able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves.
- Standing: Able to stand for extended periods of time while delivering information.
- Travel/Mobility: Able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time.
- Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips, and sometimes on uneven indoor or outdoor surfaces.
