POSITION PURPOSE
This position is responsible for setting up and operating conventional, special purpose, and CNC machines and machining centers to machine metallic and or non-metallic parts.
Principal Accountabilities
- Reads and interprets engineering drawings and blueprints, schematic diagrams, and shop orders/jobs to determine setup, production methods, and sequence of operation.
- Selects, positions, and secures any cutters or fixtures required in process.
- Inspects and measures work to ensure products are within print specification.
- Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
- Report immediately to supervisor/lead/manager any and all problems, which may affect safety, equipment, tooling, and/or quality.
Maintain Full Working Knowledge of All Processes
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.

- Conduct himself/herself in a professional manner in accordance with company guidelines.

- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows applications and the capacity to learn new systems.

- Understanding of all tools, gages, equipment, and other various instruments used to perform position.
- Basic ability to understand blue prints, schematics, and instrumentation diagrams.
- Skill in performing accurate arithmetic functions involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; using decimals, percentages, fractions, and ratios.
Required Education and Experience
- Equivalent of high school diploma or G.E.D. certification;
- 1 year minimum of related experience and/or training.
Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk throughout the building.
- The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
- The employee is required to stand and/or walk for prolonged periods of time.
- The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel or crouch.
- The employee must regularly lift up to 60 pounds and move up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- The employee may be required to work with hazardous materials.
- The employee may be exposed to hot surfaces, hot air, electrical hazards, and flames.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works with moving machinery and occasionally in outside weather.
