Machinist/Mill Technician (Weekend Grave Shift)

About the role

Janicki is a private, family-owned business based in Washington State with a facility in Layton, Utah. The Layton facility specializes in machining large, complex structures from carbon fiber composites and aluminum for the aerospace and space exploration markets. The parts produced are used in advanced fighters, bombers, rockets, and space vehicles. This role offers opportunities to drive continuous improvements on long-term production programs or challenge your abilities with new rapid-development projects.

This is a weekend grave shift position with hours from 5:30 pm to 6:00 am, Friday through Sunday. There is a $5.00 shift differential for this shift.

Responsibilities

• Set up, machine, and inspect complex machined components in a 5-axis environment.
• Read and interpret drawings, follow process instructions, and monitor machine controllers.
• Change and monitor cutting tools, perform part inspection (laser and manual), operate machines, load parts, and conduct routine machine maintenance.
• Support additional activities such as deburring, part detailing, and assembly as needed.
• Perform essential job functions including:
  • Reading and understanding blueprints, isometric drawings, and work orders.
  • Recognizing and reporting machine problems and difficulties.
  • Understanding mill gauging procedures.
  • Following directions from Supervisors and Production Leads.
  • Complying with safety practices and setting up scaffolding/safety barriers.
  • Properly executing hazardous material disposal activities.
  • Performing prescribed maintenance on machines and facilities.
  • Using common hand tools and supporting production in other cells as required.
  • Conducting on-the-job training, AS9100, Nadcap training, and other required training.
  • Compliance with 5S, AS9100, and Nadcap standards and practices.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
• Work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines.
• Maintain good attendance and punctuality as an essential function of the job.

Requirements

• Due to ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or Legal Permanent Resident as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three years of machining/mill experience preferred.
• Prior experience in composite or fiberglass fabrication and repair is preferred.
• Ability to read, understand, and follow work orders, written procedures, blueprints, drawings, and other technical documents.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.

Pay

Wage range for this role is between $22 - $48 an hour, plus a discretionary bonus. Additional pay is available for off-shifts, off-site work, and access pay.
