Machinist - Lathe Operator

About the role

Set up and operate manual or CNC lathes to perform turning, facing, threading, drilling, and other machining operations.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirements.
• Select and install appropriate cutting tools, attachments, and fixtures.
• Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instruments to ensure conformance to specifications.
• Monitor machine operation and make adjustments as needed to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
• Perform routine maintenance on lathe machines and ensure equipment is kept in good working condition.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to company safety protocols and quality standards.
• Record production data and report any defects, malfunctions, or irregularities to supervisors.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of machining principles such as turning, facing, boring, threading, and drilling.
• Able to read and interpret technical drawings and tolerances.
• Skill in using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
• Solid knowledge of cutting tools, materials, feeds, and speeds.
• Proficiency in basic math and computer literacy.
