About the role
Set up and operate manual or CNC lathes to perform turning, facing, threading, drilling, and other machining operations.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirements.
- Select and install appropriate cutting tools, attachments, and fixtures.
- Measure and inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instruments to ensure conformance to specifications.
- Monitor machine operation and make adjustments as needed to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
- Perform routine maintenance on lathe machines and ensure equipment is kept in good working condition.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to company safety protocols and quality standards.
- Record production data and report any defects, malfunctions, or irregularities to supervisors.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of machining principles such as turning, facing, boring, threading, and drilling.
- Able to read and interpret technical drawings and tolerances.
- Skill in using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
- Solid knowledge of cutting tools, materials, feeds, and speeds.
- Proficiency in basic math and computer literacy.
