Machinist IV - 2nd Shift

About the role

The Machinist IV role is within the Space and Defense Group at Moog. Reporting to the Machining Operations Manager, this position operates on a 2nd shift schedule in Orrville, Ohio.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual and CNC machines, including loading and unloading fixtures and parts, setting cutting tools, adjusting fixtures, and making machine and tooling adjustments.
• Troubleshoot and make necessary adjustments during production runs to achieve quality standards.
• Inspect parts using various inspection equipment and document discrepancies.
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketch sheets, and schedules, and understand machine shop practices, terminology, and basic shop math.
• Communicate effectively with other shifts, Production Engineering, and Quality to ensure smooth transitions.
• Train other employees as needed.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED, or equivalent demonstrated ability to understand and apply verbal, written, and computer work instructions in English.
• Demonstrated ability to perform simple arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• At least 5 years of experience as a machinist.
• Experience operating hand drills, back spot facers, parts cleaners, micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, bore gauges, air gauges, precision pins, height gauges, and hand tools.

Pay

Salary range: $26.00–$32.00 per hour, with a 10% shift differential for 2nd shift employees.
