About the role
Join a stable, growing company where the work is ramping up and so can your career! At Cooper Machinery Services, we’re looking for a Machinist who can join the company and be an immediate asset to the operations team.
Responsibilities
- Operate manual machine tools — lathes, mills, and drills — to fabricate precision parts to exact specifications.
- Perform repair and restoration of components to support the turbocharger service business.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine dimensions, tolerances, and surface finish requirements.
- Conduct dimensional layout on all machined parts and complete routing documentation to confirm conformity.
- Set up and independently operate assigned machines, including offset adjustments (wear, geometry, cutter compensation).
- Deburr, stamp, and apply multiple surface finishes per specifications; align and secure fixtures, tooling, and accessories.
- Monitor machine feed and speed throughout the machining process and maintain a safe, clean work area.
- Read job cards to determine product details, specifications, machining time, and quantities; handle multiple machine types as required.
Requirements
- A High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution; Vo-Tech Certificate required.
- 5-8 years of hands-on manual machining experience, preferably in oil & gas, power, heavy equipment, or automation.
- Advanced proficiency with precision measuring tools: Vernier and dial calipers, ID mics, depth mics, ball mics, and more.
- Certified to operate a forklift, pallet jack, and crane; able to lift at least 40 lbs and perform sustained physical work.
- Familiar with oilfield assemblies, parts, and advanced trade mathematics; comfortable reading complex drawings and specs.
- Strong communicator with effective verbal and written skills; reliable team contributor with a safety-first mindset.
- Willing to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as the business requires.
Qualifications
- Preferred: Experience in turbocharger service or rotating equipment repair environments.
- Experience working with multiple machine types simultaneously in a high-mix, low-volume production setting.
- Familiarity with quality control documentation and ISO/AS9100 work environments.
