Responsibilities
- Operate a 4-Jaw “Independent Chuck,” band saw, and drill press
- Polish various valve parts to manufacturer specifications
- Rough out in-house fabricated parts
- Machining flanges to within ASME 16.50 specifications
- Drill and tap holes
- Advanced learning component for various measuring instruments, including micrometers, last word indicators, PMI guns, thread measurement devices, and veneers
- Mentor junior machinists
Qualifications
- Education & Experience: HS Education or GED Equivalent a plus; Machinist degree preferred; 3+ years industry experience
- Skills & Abilities: Proficient in Machinist I & II responsibilities; Minimum of 3 years as a certified Machinist; Experienced trainer of Level I & II Machinists; Proficient in advanced machining techniques and standards; Working knowledge and proficiency of machining metallurgy; Knowledge and understanding of material selection; Ability to read and understand technical drawings; Understanding of shop math and machining costs; Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks; Basic OSHA and TWIC card (TWIC, only if required); Excellent oral and written communication skills; Demonstrated “can do” attitude and excellent customer service skills; Must be able to travel and have a clear driving record in accordance with company driving guidelines
- Physical Functions: Lifting up to 50 pounds; Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions; Lift and carry 50 pounds for 100 feet; Bend, stoop, walk, and climb stairs; Able to pass periodic medical evaluations and respirator fit tests to ensure continued compliance with OSHA standards; Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps; Move self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces; Remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods; Move about to accomplish tasks or move from one worksite to another; Communicate with others to exchange information; Repeat motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers; Operate machinery and/or power tools; Operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment; Assess the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned
