Position Summary

Set up and operate various machining operations including milling, facing, drilling, reaming, boring, tapping, slotting, grinding, turning, and more. Perform activities such as deburring, cleaning, inspecting, setting up tools, operating test presses, applying pressure, removing debris, and maintaining cleanliness.

Principal Activities

  • Deburring and cleaning parts for hydro tests.
  • Make inspection checks and chart dimensions to ensure part accuracy.
  • Select and set proper holding devices, fixtures, and attachments.
  • Layout and clamp parts onto machine tables.
  • Adjust and set cutting tools, grind single point tools, select speeds and feeds, and set attachments.
  • Perform miscellaneous operations during automatic cycles, such as preparing next pieces, simple deburring, and hydro test operations.
  • Utilize CBS visual management board for scheduling and reporting.
  • Use computer software and hardware.
  • Use precision measuring instruments like verniers, micrometers, dial indicators, templates, feelers, gages, scales, calipers, and electronic measuring equipment.
  • Set up and hydrostatic test parts using test presses and fixtures.
  • Apply required pressure, use pressure gauges, observe for leaks, stamp parts, apply sealing solutions, and treat as directed.
  • Remove excess metal, sand, cores, bead splatters, rust, scale, burrs, high spots, ragged edges, and foreign matter from parts.
  • Load and unload production washing machinery.
  • Preserve parts with rust preventative as required.
  • Keep work area, machines, and equipment clean and orderly.
  • Safeguard the working area as necessary.
  • Wear all necessary safety equipment.
  • Operate all machining equipment, hydro and pump test stands, and related tools.

Candidate Requirements

  • Knowledge of advanced trades mathematics and complex drawings, specifications, charts, tables, handbook formulas.
  • Ability to use precision measuring instruments.
  • Experience: 10 years machining experience or 3-4 years HMC experience preferred.
  • Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate required; minimum of three years prior machining experience.
