Machinist II Gear Shapers: 1st Shift

About the role

This is a full-time, fully onsite role located at the designated Regal Rexnord office in Auburn, AL. The position typically requires 40 hours per week with prescheduled overtime, including potential Saturdays, to meet production demands.

Responsibilities

• Write, edit, and modify programs for CNC Machines.
• Operate CNC machines according to exact tolerances specified on engineering prints.
• Set up and operate manual lathes, saws, cutting tools, and slotting tools to meet exact tolerances on engineering prints.
• Perform routine inspections and minor maintenance, including housekeeping duties as needed.
• Troubleshoot and correct operational and quality issues.
• Ensure the machine follows operational and safety guidelines.
• Meet all production standards.
• Run entire cell/area or multiple machines at a time.
• Work in a constant state of alertness with safety always a priority.
• Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and stretching.
• Lift up to 15 pounds at a time.

Requirements

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and prints.
• Ability to work with AutoCAD, including computers, hand tools, and measuring devices such as calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
• Ability to set up and operate manual lathes and other machines according to precise tolerances.
• Ability to change tooling and set up machines according to required machining sequences.
• Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Basic maintenance skills.
• Ability to work and run your machine with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

• Basic understanding and ability to read blueprints.
• Basic understanding of CNC G/M code.
• Basic understanding of editing offsets and completing setups.

Work Environment

The role involves exposure to moving mechanical parts and a loud noise level typical of a manufacturing factory. The work environment may also include quieter office settings for computer-based tasks. Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and stretching are required.
