About the role
Basic operation and inspection of various types of conventional or automatic machines used to produce precision parts and instruments.
Responsibilities
- Follow safety and standard operating procedures
- Machine parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers or grinders
- Measure, examine, and test completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications
Qualifications
- Performs work under direct supervision
- Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff
- Possesses beginning to working knowledge of subject matter
- Mathematical skills
- Technical expertise
- Manual dexterity
- Physical stamina
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
- Basic communication and math skills
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive movements
- Ability to lift and move materials and parts up to 40 pounds
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination to operate machinery and measuring tools
- Ability to visually inspect parts and read measurements and specifications
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment around machinery, noise, oils, and coolants
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation
Pay
$18.75 – $25.00/hour based on experience
