About the role

Operate computer-controlled lathe/milling machines or perform one or more machine functions on metal or plastic work pieces. Perform complete and independent set-up of various CNC machine tools and perform primary operations.

Responsibilities

  • Know all equipment in area of responsibility; understand and use equipment effectively.
  • Observe machine gauges and equipment operation, including the use of precision instruments and gauges to detect defects or deviations from standards, and make adjustments as necessary.
  • Work from prints, sketches, oral and written instructions to determine the sequence of operations, dimensions and tolerances, tools to use, and method of locating, aligning, and holding work.
  • Maintain identification of machined parts as required.
  • Perform required preventive maintenance and understand tag out/lock out processes.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment to keep up with production demands.
  • Demonstrate and perform safety practices at all times.
  • Maintain run time and production records.
  • Assist in performance of other duties as needed to meet the objectives of the department.
  • Use the company’s ISO Quality System documentation to guide daily quality activities.
  • Do not release products until all quality checks have been passed.
  • Immediately report quality issues to the supervisor or quality manager.
  • Follow all company environmental rules/procedures and handle materials to minimize environmental impact.
  • Properly wear all required PPE.
  • Review and know all Job Hazard Analyses for proper job sequence and hazards associated with assigned jobs.
  • Review and know all Safety Data Sheets for assigned jobs.
  • Maintain all work areas to 5S standards.
  • Perform pre-operation safety inspection and hazard analysis.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Windows and basic Fanuc (M & G Codes) knowledge is a plus.
  • Ability to read shop drawings and instructions.
  • Ability to accurately use and read measuring tools.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Physical/Environmental Demands

Physical activity associated with daily performance of this job includes: balance, climbing, fingering, grasping, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, standing, stooping, walking, and sitting.

Must be able to work in hot and cold environments normally found in a prefabricated building without climate-control. The operator is constantly exposed to some heat, cold, dust, and fumes.
