About The Opportunity
The Machinist position performs all aspects necessary for the machining processes used in the manufacturing of components. This is a full-time role 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday with occasional weekends.
Responsibilities
- Operates all manual, CNC, or EDM machines to perform completely and independently specific operations as outlined in the methods and process sheets
- Changes, sets, and adjusts precision tools as required
- Loads and deletes programs in the computer
- Makes minor adjustments of feeds and speeds on the assigned machine
- Grinds own cutting tools and drills (other than special purpose tools)
- Maintains specific tolerances and accurately performs dimensions
- Checks parts using specified gages or furnished fixtures to ensure dimensions are maintained
- Performs routine maintenance checks and reports improper machine function
- Maintains a neat and orderly work area
- Follows all applicable safety rules and precautions
- Assists with related training of other employees as needed
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one (1) year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis
- Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong Mechanical skills
- 1+ year experience in setup and operation of CNC mills and/or lathes
- Ability to use air and electric tools to remove metal
- Willingness to learn new skills
- Self-starter/motivated team player
- Perform secondary operations as required: Deburring, Assembly, Marking, etc.
- Ability to make tool adjustments and changes
- Good math skills, with the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
Working Conditions
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel
- Must be able to communicate verbally and have the ability to hear
- The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop or crouch
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds, at times up to 50 pounds
- Personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses and safety shoes) is required on the shop floor
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, acetone, alcohol, argon, braze alloys, nitrogen, hydrogen, oil-based lubricants and cleaning solutions
- The employee is occasionally exposed to moderate cold and extreme heat
- The noise level in the work environment is usually middling
