Summary
Plans and performs machining operations of a complex nature. Also, plans operational procedures and sequences. May need to improvise.
Responsibilities
- Plan and perform machining operations of a diverse and complex nature to produce components for tools, dies, fixtures, jigs, guages, etc.
- Select tooling, work holding methods, spindle speeds, tooling feed rates and machine attachments.
- Determine grind for tooling best suited for material characteristics.
- Mount and secure tooling in tool holders.
- Improvise tooling and machine setups for special adaptations.
- Operate all types of machines for the construction of graphite dies.
- Select proper grades of graphite.
- Use of precise measuring tools to setup and operate machines and to check work.
- Visually inspect work.
- Comply with all quality, safety, work rules and regulations.
