About the Role

Responsible for the setup and operation of vertical mills, making tool adjustments for a variety of major automatic machines. Works from blueprints and process sheets to perform production tasks, including cutting and shaping metal to precision dimensions. Checks and inspects machining operations against specified tolerances. May also make recommendations concerning the use of and improvements to materials and design.

Responsibilities

• Setup and operate CNC vertical mills using work offsets, tool height offsets, and familiarity with cutter compensation.
• Perform light G code editing when required.
• Inspect your own work/parts before submitting to the inspection department and during in-process inspection.
• Ability to work to and hold close tolerances.
• Determine proper feed and speed adjustments if needed.

Preferred experience with Haas, Mitsubishi, and Milltronic controls.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 4 years of prior relevant experience, or a 2-year post-secondary/Associate Degree with 0-2 years of prior related experience.
• Ability to work well in a team.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills.
