About the role
Forged Solutions Group, Inc., a global provider of high specification forgings for the aerospace, defense, and space end markets, has a position available at its Custom Alloy division in High Bridge, NJ. The division specializes in manufacturing high-quality seamless and welded pipe and tube solutions, as well as custom fabrications for critical applications. Serving both government and commercial clients, CAC is a critical supplier to the naval supply chain for key subsurface and surface programs. The Custom Alloy division is seeking Machinists at various levels to join their team.
Responsibilities
- Machinist 1 (Entry/Junior): Tends machines (CNC or manual), loads/unloads parts, performs basic measurement, and maintains shop cleanliness.
- Machinist 2 (Intermediate): Performs setups (CNC mills/lathes), makes minor programming adjustments, and conducts first-article inspection.
- Machinist 3 (Advanced): Performs independent setup and programming (CAM software/Mastercam) from blueprints. Creates and designs fixtures/tooling, handles complex materials.
- Machinist 4 (Senior): Develops new procedures for complex, high-tolerance parts. Optimize production rates, reduce scrap, mentor’s junior machinists, assist with CAM programming, and ability to run multiple machines simultaneously.
Requirements
- Machinist 1 (Entry/Junior): 0-2 years; Entry Level; Certificate/technical training advantageous.
- Machinist 2 (Intermediate): 2-5 years; works under moderate supervision.
- Machinist 3 (Advanced): 5+ years; may act as a team lead as needed.
- Machinist 4 (Senior): 7-10+ years; Often a journeyperson qualification or equivalent.
Skills
- Machinist 1 (Entry/Junior): Basic blueprint reading, measuring tools (calipers, micrometers).
- Machinist 2 (Intermediate): Proficient in blueprint reading, proficient with CNC controllers.
- Machinist 3 (Advanced): Advanced CAD/CAM software proficiency, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) expertise.
- Machinist 4 (Senior): Expert-level knowledge of CNC machining, advanced fixture design, and root-cause analysis of manufacturing issues.

Pay
- Machinist 1 (Entry/Junior): $22-25 (2 nd Shift earns additional 10% differential)
- Machinist 2 (Intermediate): $26-29 (2 nd Shift earns additional 10% differential)
- Machinist 3 (Advanced): $30-32 (2 nd Shift earns additional 10% differential)
- Machinist 4 (Senior): $32+
Schedule
- First Shift: 6/7am-3:30pm
- Second Shift: 3:30pm – 12pm
Physical Demands
- Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to sit.
- Occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally required to lift to 50 pounds.
