About the role
A Machinist forms and shapes material with lathes, drill presses, mills, mills, routers, grinding machines, duplication and profile machines. A machinist will be expected to manufacture and repair parts associated with the repair of casting equipment as well any outside jobs that come in to the shop.
Responsibilities
- Operate computer numerical controlled (CNC) or manual machinery that mills, punches, drills, and broaches.
- Operates lathes, drill presses, routers, grinding machines, duplicating, profile machines, or reams metal and/or plastic parts.
- Operate and maintain inside and outside micrometers, depth micrometers, calipers, bore gages, and other general hand tools.
- Make tool adjustments to adhere to established specifications.
- Makes tool adjustments to adhere to established specifications.
- Work, from drawings and written instructions to create replacement and new parts in making repairs to metal parts.
- Monitors work to ensure that machine is not malfunctioning.
- Perform daily maintenance check of machine.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, Associate’s degree or technical certificate preferred.
- Reading/Writing skills (literacy) as required.
- 5+ years’ experience with set-up, operation, and maintenance of CNC and Manual turning centers.
- Experience with rigging, welding, milling, and industrial safety practices preferred.
- Able to read mechanical blueprints, familiarity with electrical schematics is beneficial.
- Ability to read and interpret G & M-Code.
- MAZATROL & Siemens Programming experience preferred.
- CAM Programming experience preferred, MasterCAM.
- Certifications: Crane and forklift is preferred – in house training provided to obtain certification;
- Driver’s License.
