Position Summary

Sigmatech is seeking a Machinist to support the fabrication, modification, repair, and assembly of missile-related equipment and precision mechanical components. The successful candidate will utilize manual and automated machine tools to manufacture, repair, and modify parts in accordance with engineering drawings, technical specifications, and quality requirements supporting Department of Defense programs.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, modify, repair, and assemble precision mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Operate manual and automated machine tools including mills, lathes, CNC machines, water-jet machines, drill presses, shears, benders, presses, and other fabrication equipment.
  • Set up and adjust machinery to produce components within specified tolerances.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, technical data packages, and manufacturing instructions.
  • Perform layout, machining, fitting, and assembly operations.
  • Use precision measuring equipment to inspect and verify completed work.
  • Maintain tooling, equipment, and work areas in accordance with company safety and quality standards.
  • Document work performed and support production tracking requirements.
  • Support prototype, production, repair, and sustainment activities as required.

Required Experience

  • Three (3) years of experience in the fabrication, machining, or model making of missile-related equipment or precision mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience operating machine shop equipment including mills, lathes, CNC machines, water-jet machines, drill presses, shears, benders, and presses.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring instruments and inspection techniques.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and in a team environment.

Desired Qualifications

  • Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) training in a related field.
  • Associate degree in Manufacturing Technology, Machine Tool Technology, Industrial Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting DoD, aerospace, missile, or defense manufacturing programs.
  • Welding and metal fabrication experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to safely work around machine tools and fabrication equipment.

Security Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Active Secret security clearance required or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
